Allspice Tree Climbers/Breakers
This job is for expert climbers. An Allspice Tree Climber plays a vital role in the harvest season, using skill, balance, and confidence to reach the highest branches where pimento berries grow. This work blends traditional techniques with physical agility. It’s a job rooted in heritage—one that requires respect for the trees, attention to detail, chopping of tree limbs are not allowed. Berries are collected without damaging the branches

Berry Pickers
Allspice Berry Pickers work closely with the tree climbers, gathering the pimento‑laden limbs that are carefully broken and lowered from the tall trees. Their job is to strip the berries from each branch with speed and care, collecting them in steel basins to keep the harvest clean and organized. Once full, each basin is transferred to a scale, where the berries are weighed according to their projected dry weight—this measurement determines the picker’s earnings for the day. Pickers play an essential role in maintaining harvest quality and ensuring that every berry is handled with the respect and tradition the allspice craft deserves.

Allspice Dry Team
The Allspice Dry Team is responsible for transforming freshly picked green pimento berries into the high‑quality dried allspice ready for market. Their work begins by carefully spreading the green berries across the designated drying area, ensuring even airflow and consistent sun exposure.
Throughout the drying process, they monitor cleanliness, remove debris, and turn the berries as needed to achieve an even, natural cure. Once fully dried, the team gathers, cleans, and bags the allspice, preparing it for sale with the same attention to tradition and quality that defines every step of the harvest.
